Rebel Salute is an annual music festival held in Jamaica, around the date of the birthday of its promoter and founder Tony Rebel. It is one of Jamaica’s biggest music festivals, known for its focus on roots and conscious music.
2018 marks Rebel Salute’s 25th Anniversary and a new location at the Grizzly’s Plantation Cove, Priory in St. Ann for a festival that has been dubbed “The People’s Show”.
Every January, this year on January 12 and 13, thousands of reggae music lovers make the pilgrimage to Rebel Salute for a world-class event that delivers a spectacular experience of authentic roots reggae, wholesome culture and healthy living.
For over two decades, Rebel Salute has brought the richest traditions of reggae music to one of the largest and most discerning audiences of any music festival in the Caribbean.
Since the beginning of Rebel Salute, that dates back to 1994, this Jamaican music festival as been a legendary big stage that delivers a top notch live event with top Jamaican reggae dancehall artists and aims to the preservation and to promote reggae music on all its aspects.
Rebel Salute is known for being violence-free, alcohol-free and also meat-free event, centered on family-oriented environment. Food vendors sell a strict Jamaican vegetarian menu, under a non stop show casing of the reggae’s finest live music.
In 2016, Rebel Salute introduced its newest innovation – the “Herb Curb”. The enclosed adults-only area features exhibits, herb practitioners, educators, speakers and medical professionals who explore everything from the sacramental to the medicinal marvels of marijuana. The Herb Curb also features a smoking lounge by the seaside.
Rebel Salute is such a unique and Irie experience that embodies that true spirit and vibes of reggae music and great food. Every year growing and perfecting its formula this year edition of Reggae Salute boasted an incredible line up of live Jamaican reggae acts delivering amazing live shows and this year the show went live with an incredible video streaming quality.
