Jamaican dancehall gothic artist Tommy Lee Sparta was arrested this past Sunday.
While full details around his arrest are still sketchy, what is known for sure at this point is that the dancehall artist was arrested early on Sunday morning while using an ATM in New Kingston.
Recording artist Tommy Lee Sparta, real name Leroy Russell, took part to the popular  Jamaican TV show Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall ,season finale, and he had just left the show when the arrest took place.
Sparta was taken by masked police, part of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Unit, which released a request to the police about taking the artist in custody, for questioning in relation to organized crime in Sparta’s native Montego Bay.
This is not the first time that the gothic dancehall artist raised to fame in Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire has been arrested, has he was already taken in for Lottery Scam in 2014 and then released.
A couple of years ago Sparta discovered he was on the police wanted list at least two other times for activities that he said he had nothing to do with and he remarked in several interviews that he was innocent and became a target because of his music.
As for now the Uncle Demon’s deejay is still detained without possibility of bail at Half Tree police station, where he will be questioned by police in relation to a series of different crimes that took place in St James.
One of the people favorite Jamaican deejays Sparta brought his own dark and gothic flavor to dancehall music, something nobody before him, if not Kartel, had done it.
Already unable to get a visa to perform in the US because of his affiliation to Vybz Kartel’s, the constant issues with the law have been impacting negatively his career.
