Fans of Jamaican dancehall music and Jamaican star Ninja Man are simply in disbelief following the artist harsh sentence to life in prison with hard labor that the deejay shares with his son son and their co-accused Dennis Clayton.
A Jamaican High Court Judge declared the sentence this past Monday in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston, Jamaica.
Originally scheduled for this past Friday, the sentencing was instead postponed  to this past Monday.
Ninja Man, real name Desmond Ballentine, claimed is innocence to the seven panel jury members, but the jury still sentenced the man and his son and friend to 25 years behind bars, with Ninja Man becoming legible for parole in 15 years.
Dancehall lovers are still re-grouping from the shock.
Legendary Jamaican superstar Ninjaman and his two co-accused, his son Janiel and his friend Dennis were all found guilty of the murder of Ricardo Johnson, aka Ricky Trooper.
Ninjaman has been released and stayed out on bail for 7 years while the trial was frozen and took years to restart, until it suddenly resumed this past November when the artist and co-accused were called again before the court.
Fans of the veteran dancehall star, his family and friends are growing concerned for the deejay’s health and state of mind because Ninjaman is not young anymore and with several years already spent in the Jamaican‘s jail system there are concerns about his health.
Ninjaman will be age 76 before he is eligible for a parole hearing, which is something that is not always guaranteed and also depends a lot on good behavior.
The dancehall legend has maintained his innocence and following the trial his legal team confirmed that the Jamaican star will appeal the conviction.

One of  the prosecution main witness, who is now under witness protection and so his name was not divulged, identified Ninjaman as the man who pulled the trigger to kill Ricardo Johnson on Marl Road in March 2009 revealing also that Ninja fired two shots also against him, but he managed to escape the gunfire and ran for his life and went to the police telling what happened.
With Buju Banton behind bars, Vybz Kartel being gone behind bars by almost 7 years as well, and now Ninja’s harsh sentence…is like if Jamaican dancehall music is orphan of his biggest and most talented names.
Ninjaman spoke on Onstage TV, the popular Jamaican TV show with Winford Williams about his trial expressing how much he feels he has a unfair trial just like Vybz Kartel.
