“Out the Gate” is an independent movie filmed between Jamaica, in Toll Gate, and Los Angeles that, after successful screening in United States, will finally reach Jamaican screens in November.
It’s a urban/ action movie directed by R. Steven Johnson with Paul Cambell as a LA boss, and if his face looks familiar to you it’s because you already seen him in movies like “Shottas”, “Third World Cop” and “Lunatic”.
“Out The Gate” tells the story of Everton Dennis (playing himself, and also co-writer and co-producer of the movie) and his dreams of success inna Usa, and what he faces when the boss will ask him his cut.
This flick it’s been already defined “a classic” and a “vivid and moving movie”, will leave you feeling good about don’t give up your dreams.
Once again pure inspiration from another Jamaican modern tale: believe in your dreams, don’t give up and if you fall try again and try harder. No dream is too big!
Which is also what the movie director, production and crew members had to do during the wrapping of their project since the money for the movie were never there all at once: with the initial budget production they bought equipment to shot the first test scenes, so to show to the investors and collect the money to move the movie forward.
“Every step along the way, new challenges arose, budgets grew and were exceeded, yet somehow Jah provided and we were able to finish the film and bring it to the theaters.”film producer Keith Lewis revealed.
The movie’s soundtrack is also remarkable and packed with Jamaican hit songs, from Beenie Man, Busy Signal, Karl Morrison, and features also music from rappers Jadakiss, Styles P and more.
“Out Of The Gate” features also Mr Lexx, Lady G, Ms Triniti, Kashuman, and more in character roles.
