Vybz Kartel’s lawyer, Tom Tavares Finson, confirmed that the incarcerated Gaza General Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, is currently hospitalized at Universities Of West Indies Hospital in Kingston.
Vybz Kartel is hospitalized under a heavy police guard and as for now the only informations are that he is under going treatment for a kidney infection and he could stay in the hospital for a week if his conditions don’t improve.
Reports coming out of the hospital are the both his parents visited the entertainer at the UWI hospital and his lawyer Tavares Finson also was seen leaving the hospital in the early morning on Sunday.
Vybz Kartel was transferred to the hospital in the early hours of Sunday night after complaining about severe pain. He was treated in the facility by medical staff on site at the General Penitentiary but when his conditions didn’t improve he was transferred to the hospital.
Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life in prison sentence to 35 years without parole, but he and his co-accused will appeal the sentence with a new trial to overturn it that will start on February 2018.
Vybz Kartel’s fans are very concerned for their artist’s health and are pouring comments and well wishes for the jailed King of Dancehall all over social medias wishing Kartel a prompt and quick recovery and for him to be at his best when the appeal comes and many are also vexing about the extreme bad conditions of Jamaican jail system.
Even if away from the public and music scene for more than six years following his arrest at the end of 2011, Vybz Kartel has managed to remain solid and relevant in dancehall music reaching way far than his native Jamaica and gaining a legendary status in dancehall music, with new fans every new song that comes out.
