Vybz Kartel has been confirmed and titled “King of Dancehall” on mainstream American TV this past Thursday.
New York channel Fox 5 dedicated a morning segment of their show to incarcerated Jamaican star Vybz Kartel, crowning him the King.
For his long time Gaza fans this is nothing new! And for Addi is not the first time on mainstream media for his music achievements, and for most of his fans scattered to the four corners of the world as well as the industry, he has already been crowned for several years the one and only King of dancehall music.
The debated topic year after year confirms Kartel as the King. No contenders.

Fox 5 New York already features dancehall acts in the past, with Jamaican stars like Alkaline and Masicka making guest appearances on the show. Kartel is still behind bars, so he obviously could not attend, but he was still once again give the title of the “Undisputed King of Dancehall Music”.
Vybz Kartel “Undisputed Champion” is a new L Y R I C A L M A S T E R P I E C E from the incarcerated dancehall stars, that spits fire lyrics about his crown and launches jabs to all his contenders and detractors, with the lyrics going like this
“Colder than the British night / Violate a Blood Again like Richie Spice / Or people dead ask Rodney Prince / None a dem no bad beside, all dem do a rob me styles / A my disciples dem, is like I am the Christ, well obviously not / Me title must be hot, dem ‘fraid fi touch the crown,”
Jamaican star Beenie Man has been referring to himself as the king of dancehall since the 1990s and after getting the news he took it to the Gram, writing
“1995 before social media, streaming platforms, and digital media. Then and now. #dancehall #LoverOftheMusic&theCulture #reggae #IfYouKnowYouKnow #FashionIcon #DancehallKing #MusicalPioneer,”
and adding adding a king emoji at the end.
World Boss Vybz Kartel responded to that writing back “Burger King Of Dancehall Music” referring to Beenie, and is not all with it, a new Kartel’s tune a new banger for 2019, titled “Undisputed Champion” that is already available on iTunes, and labeled by the fans as aBeenie Man diss, jut droppef. While in other decades the undisputed Kings of dancehall have been Yellow Man, Sean Paul and Beenie Man, this decade has been taken by Vybz Kartel and even more so, considering has been behind bars since the end of 2011 and still awaiting on the verdict of his appeal trial.
